DIRECT SERVICE PROVIDERS
Why are direct service providers important?
Direct-care workers provide paid hands-on long-term care and personal assistance received by Americans who are elderly or living with disabilities or other chronic conditions. These workers help their clients bathe, dress, and negotiate a host of other daily tasks. Direct-care workers also constitute one of the largest and fastest-growing workforces in the United States.
“As someone diagnosed with progressive MS, my husband is my caregiver. Help with assisting me would be of great comfort and relief for him since he still works, has to take care of the house, the yard and the cooking AND has to take care of me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.” - Lisa Dean from Kentucky
“I work with and represent people with ID/DD and the agencies supporting them. Reimbursement rates are woefully underfunded and any cuts to those rates would be disastrous.” - Judy Goodwin from Oklahoma
